Ok I am in need of some help here. To be perfectly honest, this is thefirst I've messed with orca and msi files. Here is my overall goal.Uninstall both Office XP and/or Office 2003 from a users system FIRSTInstall Office 2003 through GPO.I think I can, and correct me if I'm wrong, create a custom action inthe msi, which launches the cmd.exe with the command to launch anexternal batch file.
If I can set this up to run before ANYTHING elseis run within the MSI, that would be key.If I can do this, I need to know how. Specifically, what customactiontype, sequence, anything I need to set up, I need the help with.Any help is GREATLY appreciated.Justin. Unfortunately this won't work, as 1, it won't remove Access XP because it doesnt think to look for that, since it wouldn't be replacing Access with the Standard version of Office 2003. Also, if the computer already has Office 2003 installed, it installs a 2nd copy of the software, therefore negating any central administration for the nextupgrade.
Std11.msi Office Standard Edition 2003 Product Key
For example, if I use the GPO to assign Office 2003 to a computer that already has 2003, then go to the computer, uninstall office2003, office 2003 is still there, (The original install). Hi shootist, are i assuming this right? Sap finance. All of the apps in question to uninstall are 'per machine' installations? If this is the case, figure out all the upgrade codes of this apps and bring them into the Upgade table with an MST.See: forget to add the 'ActionProperty' to the SecureCustomProperties property. The same could be achieved by using a 'dummy' MSI just to uninstall the existing apps.Hope this gives you some ideas.Regards, Nick.
Hi All,Running Windows Server 2003 R2 Standard Edition, I am trying to add the std11.msi package that came with office 2003 to a Group Policy deployment but I keep getting strange errors occur when trying to add the package. The Message that appears is:Add Operation Failed. Unable to extract deployment information from the package. Run validation on the package to ensure the package is correct.I can't figure out why this won't let me add the package, I have seen one or two pieces of information about the error but nothing seems to match the problem I have.Any thoughts/help would be greatly appreciated.Thanks.
I purchased a new laptop in 2003 with Microsoft Office XP factory installed on the hard drive. Later I bought and upgraded to MS Office Standard Edition 2003.I have a new laptop bought in 2011 where I want to install MS Office Standard Edition 2003.The MS Office Standard Edition 2003 upgrade Product Key looks for the older XP edition before installing which doesn't exist on my new laptop. The original MS Office XP installed on my hard drive did not provide a CD of MS Office XP.Is there a way to port over the MS Office XP and install the old MS Office XP on my new laptop and upgrade using the MS Office 2003 CD upgrade? My skills are non technical but any suggestions are welcome.

Edited September 25, 2007 by igorm. Guys, I just found one problem in my script, so I need a little help. Nice program for integration and creation of an admin install point. What I have seen attempted previously on another forum (I never got it to work correctly) is to take the Off 2003 disk copy it to a folder and proceed to actually patch it, and then put all the patched files back into the cabs they belonged in.
This included the script to create the reg keys that told the target system what service packs/hotfixes had been applied after the setup had been run on the system. Basically slipstreaming service packs into the source disk and then putting the genie back into the bottle, keeping reasonably close to the original setup disk's distribution size.I believe the post was on the MSFN forum as 'slipstream Office 2003 SP1 & rebuild CD'.The way I do a distro disk now is I script the install to do the setup and then call ohotfix to do each patch in sequence afterwards followd by a reboot for good measure. Thankfully the recent release of SP3 reduced the number of files in my 'patch' directory down to 4 (including the latest Outlook junk filter update).Have you given any thought to trying your hand at the actual slipstreaming of the patches and then reconstituting the source back into cabs? Thanks,S Edited September 25, 2007 by Schmagagled. I used the download at the top of this post, but when I ran it against a Windows 2003 STD EDITION, it failed applying the SP3 updates. It said that the MSI package was missing. Now knowing how the Office Slipstream process works, and having tried it manually already, I knew that the package on the Office 2003 Standard Edition was 'STD11.MSI' not 'PRO11.MSI'. When I copied the.MSI over to PRO11.MSI, it worked. So I applied the slipstream, then copied it back over the STD11.MSI package when done.Hopefully that works, but it is a bug in the standard package.Note: The GUI senses it is standard edition (i.e.
